Inter Jrs Man City Tournament Weekend...

We just wrapped up a wild, incredibly demanding tournament. Tying all three games against high ranked premier teams —2-2 against Carmel, 1-1 against Yorktown, and 3-3 against LaGrange— shows exactly what this U15 team is made of.

The biggest takeaway from this weekend is the sheer character of this team. We fell behind in all three matches, and we fought back every single time to secure a result. That grit cannot be taught.

A huge reason we were able to make things happen was the chemistry of Ian, Riccardo, and Carlos—our 'tripleta' up front. They were absolutely electric and carried our attack. Ian was lethal, earning a pk and bagging 4 goals over the tournament. Riccardo gave us two unforgettable moments—a spectacular free kick from 45 yards out and a brilliant strike from outside the penalty area that completely shifted our momentum. With Carlos pulling the strings alongside them, they showed everyone how dangerous we can be.

Going undefeated while playing premier teams is a solid baseline for any travel team. While we have defensive details to clean up so we aren't constantly chasing games, our defenders' fighting spirit and the midfield and attacking talent we saw this weekend give us a massive foundation to build on. Coach Richie.

• On the impact of "la tripleta" (Ian, Riccardo, Carlos): "When you bring a new group together, you hope for chemistry, but what Ian, Riccardo, and Carlos did this weekend was special. Ian's 4 goals showed his instinct in the box, and Carlos' work rate opened up the space for them. They are already operating on a high wavelength, and they are only going to get better." Coach Richie.

• On Riccardo's 45-yard free kick and long-range strike: "Absolute class. To strike a ball like that from 45 yards out takes immense confidence and technique. That goal, along with his shot from outside the box, gave the entire bench a massive lift right when we needed it most. He's a game-changer."

• On coming from behind in all 3 games: "It shows we have a locker room full of fighters. As a coach, you don't want to make a habit of digging holes, but knowing that this team will never quit gives me massive confidence. We proved that no matter the scoreline, we are never out of a match." Coach Richie.
